One Day, One Couple: The Mary Figg Approach to Your Ceremony

I only book one wedding a day, I travel statewide, and I write every ceremony for you — not for the gallery.

A Ceremony as Real as Tasmania

When you start looking for a celebrant, it’s easy to get caught up in the “wedding industry” noise.

But if you’re looking for a ceremony that feels more like a shared story and less like a scripted performance, we’re going to get along just fine.

I’m a Tasmanian. Not just a “local,” but someone who knows the bones of this island. I’m a Blundstone-boots-on-the-ground kind of person who values authenticity over “Insta perfection.” I’m here for the couples who want a day that is relaxed, real, and focused on what actually matters.

1. You Own My Calendar (One Day, One Couple)

I don’t believe in “fitting you in.” In a world of back-to-back bookings, I do things differently: I only book one wedding per day.

  • The No-Stress Factor: If the Tassie weather does what it does and we need to wait twenty minutes for a front to pass, we wait. If things run late, there is no panic.

  • My Focus is Yours: You aren’t a time slot in my diary. You are the reason I’m out of the house that day. This allows us to keep the atmosphere exactly how it should be: focused on you.

2. Statewide, From Coast to High Country

While I’m based in Hobart, my “office” has no walls.

I travel statewide because I love this land. Whether it’s a quiet shack on the East Coast, a clearing in the bush, or a venue in the heart of town, I’ll be there.

I love the drive and the chance to meet you exactly where you feel most at home.

3. Elopements Are Not “Mini-Weddings”

Let’s set the record straight: An elopement is not a “shrunken” version of a larger event. It is its own intentional, powerful creation. It’s a choice to strip away the “should-dos” and focus entirely on the two of you.

I treat an elopement with the same reverence as any large gathering—perhaps even more, because the intimacy is so concentrated. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it’s beautiful.

4. I Write for Your Ears Only

I don’t write my ceremonies for the “gallery” or the guests. I write them for you.

My goal is to craft a love story that is personal and specific to your journey. If the people watching feel the magic, that’s a wonderful bonus—but my priority is making sure you recognize yourselves in the words I say.

Every story I write is a one-off, designed to become a memory you actually want to keep.

Are you ready to tell your story? Whether you're planning a quiet elopement or a relaxed gathering with your favourite people, I’d love to hear what you have in mind.

Got a question I haven't answered?

Ask me directly. I'd rather have a real conversation than write another blog post.
